Weekend Trip to Henderson

Last weekend we went to my parents' for Hazel's blessing. We ended up with a weekend jam-packed with painting my mom's kitchen and guest bathroom, going to Dessa's softball game, getting the house and food ready for 2 different family/friend dinners, and going to church for the blessing all before we hit the road to come back. Although we were busy the whole time, It was still so good to see my family and meet our new niece.

Update on the orange.

This is for Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Flake. We still need to have you come over since we never come here, but for your curiousity, this is all I have done with our orange room. I still need to put up a shelf and paintings. The other half of the room is nothing interesting to see.

The Jazz

In honor of the playoffs and considering I have supported the Jazz more this year than ever before (attending one game and being present as the games are on TV says a lot for me giving basketball a chance.- It's my least favorite to have on TV, it's all just noise.) So I thought I'd post the pictures of the game we went to a few weeks ago. Mike and I don't make too lively of a croud by ourselves, but it was fun. Whitney Burgess happened to be close by so we tried to catch her dancing in attempts to get on the megatron. Maybe she was just a little too far away.

Orange? What was I thinking?

Reasons Orange can be good:

1. Is seen as the hottest of all colors
2. Has steered clear of any extremely positive or negative connotations
3. Modern use in situations where safety through visibility is an issue
4. Not taken seriously (aside from the above use). people’s perception of the color is usually jovial, exuberant, or for hilarity.
5. The lighter shades, such as peach, coral and melon all have more calming, pleasant connotations, pastel oranges have acquired a more maternal quality. Darker oranges slide into the earth tones, settle the mind into a safe, natural world.
6. According to Color Therapy: ORANGE is the color of joy and wisdom. It affects the second chakra (sacral). It gives an energy, stimulates appetite and it is a good color for illnesses of the colon and digestion. Spiritually it is the color of joy. It connects us to our emotional self.
7. Orange, a color named after the fruit, is the brightest, most stimulating, and most decorative hue that exists. It possesses the qualities of both red and yellow, and in its pure state it is so warm that it should be used only in small quantities. It expresses energy, spirit, hope, courage, and cordiality.
8. Physiological Effect: Orange has proven to be a stimulus of the sexual organs. Also, it can be beneficial to the digestive system and can strengthen the immune system.
9. Psychological Effect: Orange has shown to have only positive affects on your emotional state. This color relieves feelings of self-pity, lack of self-worth and unwillingness to forgive. Orange opens your emotions and is a terrific antidepressant.

Reasons Orange can be bad:

1. That's a lot of orange to paint on EVERY wall in a 12 x 12 ft. room. I included the door for a better comparison, but it actually makes the orange look not so bad. After going to Home Depot and mixing paint 3 different times, this is what I ended up with. It's SO dark and bold. I hating the brown and tan we had in there (It totally didn't fit our style). Since it was my need to re-paint, Mike left it all up to me, and I'm trying to not regret it. It's possibly the hardest color to find the right paint for. I still have to finish it, but I'm hoping as I rearrange and get some teal or blue accent accessories it'll be OK. There's no way I'm repainting the whole things after doing 2 coats and edging by myself.

At least all the psychological effects of the color are good!

A little wall art

Ever since we've painted and decorate, I've been planning to make a painting to go above our bed. Last weekend Mike got tired of waiting to fill up the bare space, so he decided we'd start a new one. Mike had a great idea of different colored solid panels, but we didn't really like what we did so we found a painting we liked online and I made a copy-cat version.
It turned out pretty OK for one weekend of painting, but every time I look at it I want to fix it. It complete changed the color scheme of our accent colors and the mood of our room. I still want to finish my other painting so I have the option to keep the old colors. But what ever gets me to paint, I can't complain. I'm not making the big bucks to show for my degree, but I guess in this way I can use my degree for the rest of my life.

New Hobby: Wii

We can't get enough! The best part is that it really looks somewhat like us playing ! (Besides the funny bodies and spheres for hands.)

I am NOT a gamer. I've always just avoided every kind of video game including arcades. I'm not good, not patient and don't bother learning, but this is right up my ally and I even beat Mike half the time. I'd have to say though, I do get a little sore from all the pitching, hitting, bowling and may develop a case of tennis elbow if I'm not careful. My favorite to sit back and watch is Mike boxing, I love it! The other night I headed to bed while Mike was doing homework. I got up an hour later for a drink and caught Mike playing.

Every one needs to come play with us!!

New Addition

My sister had her baby yesterday, and only 2 days late! Since she's far far away in no man's land (AKA Reno) My mom flew out, but no one else in the family has gotten to meet the new addition, except via cell phone pictures. Maybe buy the time we do meet her she'll have a name. The fickle parents haven't decided on a name yet, but I guess there's no real deadline for a name. One thing's for sure, she looks like a Hardy as for now.

CONGRATS Delyse and Dane! And welcome to the world Baby Hardy!

Valentine's Trip

I love traveling and have needed it with this crazy winter. I always bug Mike to plan a weekend get-away and also share my big trip ideas, but never does Mike take me seriously. When he suggested we go to Henderson for Valentine's and over the 3-day weekend I was so excited.

We had a blast with both our families. our two big highlights of the weekend were 1.My little brother, Dane, taught us how to use his Rip-Stick and Mike mastered it after spending most of Saturday cruising around the patio and cul-de-sac. Finaly Sunday I was getting the hang of it and it's now at the top of our list of toys we want. 2. We spent al Monday morning at the park with boh our families. Little Mason and Brady cruised around on their bikes, so cute! We played on the playground, more Rip-Stick action, jumbo frizbees, picnic and watched Mason walk in circles learning how to walk my parents' do K8. (ha,ha, like k-9 but said Kate, my dad has a great sence of humor!)

I was sad to leave our family and the warm weather, and a little frustrated considering we left our car behind. It's getting a little work done.

SUN-day FINALLY!

Oh man, I just had the best Sunday nap ever. That's right, this spot on the floor brought me the most joy and refreshment ever. Finally a little sun. Well, sort of. I didn't get to hop in the pool or throw down a blanket on the grass since the snow still lingers, but I did get to feel the nice warm sun with only a slight cool breeze. Right now I'm even enjoying blogging from the comfort of my balconi with my short sleeves as if it was spring already. I can almost say that I'm getting a little hot! Thank goodness for the cool breeze, ha!

It has been the best little escape from it all. Leaving church today, I got so excited to feel the sun subtlely heat up my black outfit. Once home, I opened up the shades and welcomed in that heat that we've all been missing for months. I got pretty comfy on the floor, feeling the sun warm my skin! Waking up warm and dazed as if I had just fallen asleep by the pool. Summer can't come soon enough!

Wait a second, I just got a breeze accompanied by a nice farm aroma, maybe the snow melting equals fresh smells that I don't want, oh no!
